Help for my Green Cheek Conure?

I just got a green cheek conure 3 days ago (he/she is 3 months old) and when I put food in its dish he will only eat the sunflower seeds that come with it, no pellets or anything else and the only other food I can get him to eat is grapes or apples and I dont think him eating fruit all the time and seeds is any good what can I do to get him to eat the pellets? I tried soaking them in warm water a bit like some people suggested and feeding it to him but he ignores it and Idk how much he is actually eating. Can you tell by feeling the crop?

My sun conure usually only eats them if I dip them in her water dish then hand them to her. When she takes a bite, I yell “yay!” and clap, and then she is all excited and eats some more of them.

You could also try hiding them in foods like grinding them up and making them “toppings” over fruits, or make a smoothie for your bird and put them in there! My bird loves smoothies, and little does she know I put lots of healthy veggies and pellets in there that she wouldn’t eat otherwise. ;)

Also try different brands of pellets, your green cheek may prefer one over the other. My sun likes the zupreem pellets, the ones that come in different shapes and colors, and the purple ones are shaped like grapes.

Keep trying! If something doesn’t work the first time, try it again and be persistent! Birds are the pickiest eaters ever lol.

Good luck!
