When is the end of the Israeli harvest for sunflower seeds for export to the USA?
While sunflowers seem to be summer crops requiring warmth and irrigation, I have found at least one site offering fresh sunflowers exported from Israel even now in late January. Are sunflower seeds harvested all year long? If not, when did the havest season end?
While sunflowers may grow all year in Israel’s Negev, are sunflower seeds (for eating) also harvested all year in Israel? If not, but, rather, the seed crop is seasonal, when did the last harvest end, this past August? Can someone provide a link with a definitive answer to when the seed harvest ended?
The Negev Desert in Southern Israel stays warm in the wintertime, with a high as much as 15 to 20 degrees Celsius (59-68 degrees F) or sometimes higher.
