Could anyone advise me on my diet, please?
Any nutrition buffs out there?
I’m 5’2″, female and have about 2 stone in weight to lose. I exercise frequently. My diet is usually something like this -
Breakfast – Porridge (made using soya milk, 30g) with pumpkin seeds
Lunch – Apple
Dinner – Chicken breast or 3 fish fingers with vegetables (typically broccoli, carrots & sprouts)
Dessert – Frozen raspberries & bio-yogurt
Drinks: Water, herbal teas, couple of cups of de-caf tea
Is there anything I can do with my diet that would speed up weight loss in a safe way or give me more energy? I often feel tired. I’ve also noticed that having a proper breakfast makes me feel hungrier throughout the day…but I still have it because I’ve been told it will help boost my metabolism. Any tips that could decrease my hunger during the day?
Or if anyone just has any general dietary advice (not spam
) or things you’ve found have helped with your weight loss efforts I’d love to know. Thanks!
Firstly, congratulations on deciding to lose weight the healthy way – through diet and exercise!!
Your breakfast is fab, very healthy and full of fibre. However, I am not surprised you are getting hungry during the day of all you are having for lunch is an apple. Considering the diet that you have written up, it sounds like you are consuming under 1000 calories a day. Under 1000 calories means that your body goes into starvation mode…and stores a lot more fat than it would usually do because our wonderful bodies are built to protect us, so your body starts to prepare for a famine. By storing fat to use as an energy source later.
Your dinner and dessert sounds lovely, its healthy but also satisfies a sweet craving, and the drinks you are consuming are good for you too.
So my advice to speed up your weight loss (silly as it may sound) is to eat a larger lunch. Try a salad with some protein or a sandwich made with wholemeal bread.
The reason that you feel more hungry having a proper breakfast is because eating breakfast kick starts your metabolism and starts it burning calories, hence making you feel hungry earlier than you would had you eaten no breakfast and not awoken your metabolism. However, a filling breakfast usually stops snacking mid morning.
