Favored Flowers Of The Hawaiian Island
Hawaii is known for all things beautiful and exotic, from perfect sunrises to fascinating flora and fauna. Talking about flowers in particular, the ones found in Hawaii are typically rare examples and come in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes. Here we take a look at some of the most well loved florals of the islands of Hawaii.
Plumeria is one of the best known Hawaiian flowers. It is beautiful flower that comes in a fragile pink color. The flower is also available in bright yellow and white color combination, which is comparatively less used. What separates this blossom from other flowers is it’s distinct star shape. Besides, Plumeria has a completely scented smell, which again makes it a popular choice. This flower is also employed in lei, which is a wreath of flowers given to guests during celebrations.
Lehua blossom is another favored flower of the Hawaiian island. This one is a singular flower and has needle like petals. This flower comes in numerous colors like red, yellow, pink, white, and the like. However, it is red colored lehuas that are the most typical. Lehua blossom is the official flower of the Big Island, which is a favored island of the Hawaiian islands. Like Plumeria, this one is also used in leis.
One flower that’s sure to catch your eye when on a trip to the gorgeous Hawaiian Islands is the yellow hibiscus. The official Hawaii state flower since the 1920′s, the hibiscus is proclaimed to represent the custom of the people of Hawaii. Local folks of Hawaii refer to this flower as the Pua Aloalo. The yellow hibiscus is a large flower with massive petals and comes in colors of purple and red, though it is the yellow bloom that has been chosen as the primary flower of Hawaii. Aside from the lovely shape of the petals, the flower is also known for its alluring fragrance which personifies the exotica of the islands.
Aside from the beautiful shape of the petals, this bloom is also renowned for its magnificent scent, which again is quite Hawaiian in feel. Apart from the above mentioned flowers, there are several other blooms as well that are related to the Hawaiian islands. Some such flowers include ginger, Heliconias, Anthuriums and Orchids. Each of these blooms come in bright and decorative colors and have an exotic appeal to them. To add on, each of the islands in Hawaii has it’s own state flower. Make sure that you know about the same when you’re heading to any of the Hawaiian islands.
