Palm Trees In Paradise: Wedding Symbolism That Runs As Deep As The Ocean
Nothing says the tropics quite like palm trees. You won’t find these swaying symbols of the South (of the equator, that is) in any other place than warm climates with sandy beaches. While there are over 2500 species of palm, the most well-known coconut palm with its feather-shaped leaves and towering trunk. Scattered along the shore, palms remain a popular icon for the islands and vacations. But, that’s just the beginning. The palm branch is a symbol of triumph and victory. Palm branches have been waved throughout history among several different cultures. The Romans rewarded champions of the games and celebrated military successes with palm branches. Early Christians used the palm branch to celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.
