One of the most artistic forms of trees or plants is the Japanese Bonsai. It’s overall popularity is largely due to the diminutive sizes that allow individuals to nurture them and provide special care. The word “bonsai” actually has a separation to bring for its meaning. “Bon” means; tray, and “sai” that stands for planting or growing. So it’s no surprise that bonsai trees are a form of tray planting or growing.

Oddly enough these are still considered outdoor plants, even though most people think they are indoor plants because of their small size. Regardless of their main location, the goal is to provide them with the proper care and nourishment needed to last over a long period of time. So before you keep your bonsai in a humid location or give it too much water, it’s important to understand both of them can cause death.

In order to water your bonsai properly it’s important to do it moderately. This will allow the growth and overall health of the tree to stay intact. The soil should also carry the right nutrients, and make sure the spent gas is pushed out by the fresh water. There are several different bonsai species out there, which means the watering and soil requirements for each one will be different. The point is; you have to be well-informed on your particular choice if you plan to take care of it properly.

A Japanese bonsai can be acquired in four ways, either through the methods of cutting, grafting, or layering, all from existing trees or by getting seeds to be planted. Planting one from the method of cutting is an easier option, among others. While there many different species to choose from, it is always important to get one that will suit one’s personal taste, patience to really care well for the tree being a beginner, and the creativity that comes with growing and taking good care of one.

One perfect tree for growing and taking care is the Japanese Maple Bonsai tree.  They are best suited for beginners for their hardiness and ease for growing and caring. Also called Acer Palmatum, maple trees are great for growing as a bonsai. They carry good characteristics that will creatively challenge a bonsai beginner to take care of them. They are also more affordable, have amazing colorful foliage when grown, and can be easily nurtured. So, begin with choosing one with a trunk that has four inches or more in diameter. This trunk diameter allows for flexibility of growing the tree.

With a Japanese Maple Bonsai, one can create soft curves at the lower section of the tree which is a visual delight, and there’s the semi-dwarf species which can be set in a large-sized pot or within one shaded part of your garden. This species is known to have a slow growth pattern.  And because they change the colors of their leaves more often, their foliage creates an amazing array of colors that anyone can always enjoy for longer periods compared to other species. From bright red to pink red with green undertones in spring times, to greenish-red and bright red combination during summer time, then a dark-pink-red during fall, and after all the leave changes, a solid-scarlet Maple tree is what one will have.
