amaryllis has big long green leaves but doesn’t bloom?

the amaryllis i have lives in a porch by an east facing window. the porch i have it in year-round gets cold during the winter (the plant seems fine though). every year it gives giant green leaves but never blooms. right now (july) it has big green leaves. they usually wither some time during the year i don’t recall, but then grow back again. i am not sure how to make it boom. given this situation, what should i do to make it bloom?
oh yeah and it is a pretty big bulb already, i have had it for about 4 years.
