Evening Primrose Oil Eczema
Many naturalists have also had success with flaxseed oil. Flaxseed oil seems to be effective in reducing inflammation. The recommended dosage of flaxseed oil is one tablespoon a day. Evening primrose oil has also been found to be effective in reducing the discomfort associated with an eczema breakout.
Evening primrose oil is a eczema herbal remedy. Gamolenic acid which is the extract from evening primrose oil has proven to be inconclusive when used to relieve eczema. There are a number of UV light, salves, ointments and cream treatments that have had temporary positive results. They have not gained any lasting affects as was discovered over time.
Evening primrose oil is easily available in any health and food store, in a form of liquid or in capsules. It is considered as rich source of fatty acids as these essential fatty acids is not produced by human body but they are necessary to maintain health. These essential fatty acids controls pains, irritation and avoid blood clots, control cholesterol, blood pressure and other problems.
Primrose oil is basically used in herbal healing nowadays. Evening primrose oil is now known for its herbal healing powers and once in the body it is known to exert anti inflammatory and other healing actions. The highly beneficial gamma-linolenic acid or GLA converts in the body to prostaglandins. These prostaglandins regulate various body functions.
A judicious combination of gramma-linolenic acids or GLA has bedecked evening primrose oil with some herbal healing powers. This combination creates prostaglandins in human body, which manage various functions of our body. Besides, the GLA of evening primrose oils works well in lowering menstrual pains, breast pain and other symptoms of PMS or pre menstrual syndrome.
Evening primrose oil (EPO), along with borage and black currant oils, are high sources of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). These plant oils are used for premenstrual syndrome and associated breast pain & arthritis. EPO has also been prescribed for diabetic peripheral neuropathy, hyperlipoidaemia, chronic fatigue syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, schizo¬phrenia, menopausal hot flushes, and many other ailments.
On the other hand, EFA can only be obtained from one’s diet. This also means that in order to ensure a good number of protaglandins in the body, eczema patients should make sure they eat foods rich in essential fatty acids all the time. Incidentally, the only food considered being best sources of EFA’s are seafood, flax, and evening primrose oils.
The most common symptoms of infantile seborrhoeic eczema include dry, hot and itchy skin. When this becomes severe the skin can actually break, grow raw and begin to bleed. While infantile seborrhoeic eczema does not look pleasant, it is useful to know that at least it is not contagious.
