what do you think of this grass seed mixture?
I live in the south east coast of Scotland, I am planning on lifting up my current grass as it is a mess and full of weeds and making a new seed bed with a seed mix that consists of dwarf perennial rye grass, browntop bent grass and chewings fescue. what do you think about these grasses? the lawn is going to be having a wee bit activity, thats why I’m thinking of using the perennial rye grass but that doesn’t spread so thats why I thought about the browntop bent and I am also adding the chewings fescue because it is good in the shade and my back garden is very shaded, I am wanting it to look nice and be well groomed aswell though. what do you think about this grass mixture? and also, should I have a sandy topsoil for this to go onto or should I have more of a loam and what should I do about the current weed situation as I don’t want them growing in my new lawn. Thanks.
Check your actual zone for recommendation on grass that will grow there. If it doesn’t grow well in your area, you will wind up with weeds in the thinner areas very, very quickly.
