Should i cut my Columbine Aquilegia canadensis?

i had moved this flower around while it was in bloom but i was very careful
i am noticing now the leaves are turning yellow? do they need a lot of water? should i cut the whole plant down and let it re grow for a better growth next year? the flowers have already started to fade…

please help someone

You have several choices. One is to leave the flower stem and get seeds. Let the pods dry and either gather or scatter the seeds, then cut the stalk off. Or if you don’t want seeds cut it off now.

Leave the leaves… they will continue to store nourishment for next year until they dry off. You might want to give it a little fertilizer – I use transplant fertilizer when I move things – 5-15 -5 – the middle number is for root development – you could still give it some.
