I’m sprinkling chia seeds on my food, do they need to be ground?
I was happy to read that chia seeds contain heart healthy omega 3 and omega 6 plus other good stuff, because I don’t eat much fish and I find flaxseed not to my liking. But I need the heart healthy oils because it helps my HDL cholesterol. So, I bought some Chia Pure brand chia seeds and to my pleasant surprise, they don’t have much of a taste when I mix them with any food. The taste, for me, is very mild. The seeds are tiny so you don’t really chew many of them eating them this way, which leads me to wonder: would I get more benefit from grinding the seeds? I have read various opinions online, and most say that grinding doesn’t make much of a difference with this type of seed, but it makes a big difference with other seeds such as flax. Any knowledge or opinions? Thanks.
