FINDING FLOWERS TO MATCH WEDDING COLOURS
This article gives some ideas on wedding colours and complementary flower varieties, and regardless if you’re doing the flower arranging yourself or getting some help from a professional florist, it’s always best to have some ideas and information beforehand.
Choosing wedding flowers is an important decision as they need to complement the bride’s outfit as well as those of the whole bridal party, they need to match the theme of the wedding and the style of venue. They also need to look good for the whole event and withstand the rigours of the event and the weather (eg heat from either the sun or heaters inside if it’s cold etc).
Wondrous white
White flowers are traditional for weddings, and look wonderful with an array of complementary accessories (ribbon, organza etc) or foliage. The classic favourites are roses and rosebuds, but the choice is vast – including stunning orchids, chrysanthemums, carnations, gypsophila, tulips, snow drops, stephanotis, lilies and daisies.
Cool blues
For a blue theme, these flowers will be an instant ‘upper’ – lisianthus, hydrangeas, delphiniums, statice, larkspur, salvia and asters. These look wonderful paired with silver foliage such as eucalyptus as well as with white flowers including roses, gypsophila and daisies.
Pink passion
To be tickled pink, the classic choice of roses and rosebuds will always make the grade, with other pink varieties including hydrangeas, carnations, orchids, tulips, sweet peas, peonies (when in season), alstromeria and ranunculus. Beautiful browns
